A groundbreaking nationwide pension plan for meat and poultry workers will be recognized during CORPaTH’s Crystal Globe Awards and Summit, Dec. 17, 2025, at Caesars Palace Las Vegas.
The plan, built from scratch to benefit tens of thousands of employees of JBS Foods USA heralds a revival of defined-benefit pensions and the peace of mind they provide for Americans who are fortunate enough to have them, said Ron Auer, CORPaTH’s executive director.
“This entirely new plan is the result of three years of cooperative efforts among the leadership of JBS and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) in line with the mission of CORPaTH,” Auer said. “Defined-benefit pensions are far superior to 401(k)s and similar plans which have failed America’s workers for more than a generation. Future JBS retirees can be confident their retirement checks will arrive without having to worry about investment decisions and fluctuations in the stock market.”
The event will feature presentations of CORPaTH’s Crystal Globe Award to Matthew Lovell, head of labor relations at JBS USA, and Mark Lauritsen, who leads the Meatpacking and Food Processing Division of the UFCW. The two leaders will be honored for their collaborative efforts in creating the new JBS pension plan.
A Crystal Globe Award will also be presented to Randi Weingarten, national president of the 1.8-million-member American Federation of Teachers, celebrating her efforts to protect and strengthen defined-benefit pensions in the education community.
Keynoter of the Crystal Globe Awards event will be Matti Leppälä, Secretary General/CEO PensionsEurope and vice chair of the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority. Comedian Collin Moulton will serve as master of ceremonies and Gerard Senehi, a renowned “ExperiMentalist” who has astonished world leaders and television audiences around the world, will entertain the audience with “Manifesting Possibilities.”
